Riviera Beach City Marina

It's a lovely day for a day sail to Riviera Beach and everyone has the same idea. There are so many boats out enjoying the day. We left Docksode at 0630, we motored, sailed then motor sailed, and once again we're ahead of schedule. I took the wheel for awhile leaving Fort Pierce and did …

Stuck stateside

I've been to see Dr. Baudo, the eye specialist and have been given good news and bad news. The good news is I have a vitreous fluid leak in my left eye, not a detached retina. Yay. The bad news is I need to stay close to medical/retinal specialist care. Boo! That means our plans …

Dockside Marina Fort Pierce

We arrived at Dockside Marina at 0830 and pulled alongside an outer pier. Very strong current runs through the Fort Pierce inlet. This marina has been open 2 weeks, and is still under renovation. No floating docks, which makes getting my chubby ass on and off the boat interesting. There are no cleats, so we …

Ft. Pierce Here We Come

We were all ready to leave St. Augustine yesterday morning. Steve started the engine, only the engine remained silent. No click, no growl, no nothing! We have the starter motor solenoid replaced and are good to go. Gee, engine problems, again, hum...remember that phrase "engine...problems...again" We are finally away from the dock and under the …

Off to St. Augustine Florida

Leaving St Simon Inlet at 1500. It is sunny but cold. More on that to come. Calm winds, of course we want to sail and can’t again. Oh well, we are on our way, finally… It's cold for sure. Now when I say cold, I mean maybe 50 degrees. I know, I know, for you …

Getting Ready to Head South

We are prepping for our sail south. Water tanks are filled, propane tanks have been re-certified and refilled. Groceries are put away, we go tomorrow. Said our goodbyes to Heidt, Malcolm, the cozy shack guys and the restaurant wait staff. I feel better about the good-byes this time since I know we are finally getting …

Happy Thanksgiving

Happy Thanksgiving! No I did not cook a turkey, the oven is too small. That’s my story and i’m sticking to it. We had pork roast, yams, beans, cranberry sauce and crusty rolls. I made a cranberry/cherry pie (and one for the cozy shack). It’s windy with gusts over 30 kts. It looks like the …

Saying Goodbye Again

Joe and Michelle are gone. They won’t be back until December and we won’t be here. I feel like I have suffered a death in the family. I am without my friend, my boat buddy, my sista. I cry, I am so sad. They may try to meet us in Turks and Caicos, but I …

Baby It’s Cold Outside

Nothing happening in the marina. Gaelen and Sherri are gone for a haul out in St. Augustine. It’s getting cold here, there is condensation on the inside of the hatches and ports every morning. Drip, dripping on our heads while we’re in bed. I have taped pillow cases over the big hatches, and mop around …
