Bernie’s Sunset

Our week ended with the passing of my Uncle Bernie. Uncle Bernie was a true patriot. In the navy, he served his country during the Korean Conflict. Later Bernie served his country in the Air Force Reserves, dedicating over 30 years of his life to keep our country free. Upon retirement his rank was a Master Sargent, which is the highest rank a non-commissioned officer can obtain. Uncle Bernie was a family man, married for 66 years to Auntie (Irene), raising 4 daughters, and later enjoying many grand, great grand, and great great grand children.

At sunset we who knew and loved this great man toasted his life, hoisting our favorite beverage and saying “Fair winds and following seas. May the angels be with thee.”
